Trip to Nashville, TN

We had a wonderful trip to Nashville last week! The weather there was fabulous and we were able to do and see things that we hadn't before...the girls LOVED this park by Mimi's house.

We walked to the park since it was so nice outside...it was hilarious as the girls played so hard they whined that they wanted me to walk back and get the car and come get them! Cracked me up as when I said no they started jogging back to Mimi's house, so apparently they weren't TOO worn out!
We spent a couple hours at Opry Mills - which is my favoritest place in the whole wide world! Kassidy liked the car as she loves to sit and "drive" in grocery carts.

Saige liked the shark statue by the Aquarium Restaurant - we didn't eat there, though, as the girls ALWAYS want to eat at Rainforest Cafe.

On Saturday night Lee's brothers and their families came to Mimi's for Thanksgiving dinner - everyone hada a good visit...especially the little kids!

Mallory, cousin Ben, and Saige

The grandchildren: Laura, Mackenzie, Kathryn
Mallory, Ben, Saige and Kassidy

Ben calls Kassidy his baby

Kassidy didn't take too long to figure out how to open presents...LOL

Cousin Mackenzie with Kassidy

I think she should be an advertisement for Steak and Shake!
We stopped at a rest area for a break. Everyone was glad for a chance to get OUT of the car.

One of the highlights of our trip was going to the Adventure Science Center - what an awesome place!

Lee got to try out the segway

They all tried out the wheelchairs - they had basketball to play in them and then the phones - so the kids could get a feel for what it is like to try and do things.

They really enjoyed the part where they got to don a doctor's lab coat and play doctor!

All in all it was a great trip...it is getting late and my eyes are bleary...more later!

Whirlwind week

Happy Fathers Day, Lee! This was taken before church...daddy and his girls!

This probably won't be long tonight as I am trying to get ready for tomorrow and going back to work. We went to Nashville last week for Pop's funeral on weds -- so since Saige had to leave for church camp on thursday she got to stay home with Granny and Grandma as we didn't want her to miss camp. (she's been looking forward to it since Dec...) Thus far we haven't gotten any calls so she must be doing Ok - they come home tomorrow and I think Mallory misses her sister more than she wants to admit!

Here's some pics from the last week or so....

As you can see Kassidy was not too fond of this idea of a long car ride at first.... but she did finally settle down and read some books and play....ten hours is a LONG time to be in a carseat!

Mallory and Kassidy were happy to go swimming at the hotel --- unfortunately the pool was freezing, so we had to resort to the lukewarm hot tub for our swimming.

Mallory also found that the jacuzzi tub in the hotel made for some great entertainment! Too bad we don't have one of those at home!

Like the drool spot on my shoulder? LOL

One of the highlights of our trip to Nashville was lunch at Rainforest Cafe with Lee's stepmom, Charlotte. (aka Mimi) We always have to make a stop there to let the girls eat in this awesome atmosphere...since we don't have one in Topeka. Kassidy liked the big colorful fish and wasn't scared of the rainstorm at all.

The trip was a quick one - but we did get to see a lot of Lee's family, so that was a blessing. This was Mallory's first funeral so she had a lot of questions, but she did pretty well overall. It was tough as it upset her to see everyone crying....but she understood that we miss Pop. We talked about how he is in heaven now and he isn't in pain and got to hang out with Jesus - Mallory thinks thats cool. (who wouldn't?) It is amazing to see things through the eyes of a child - they are so innocent and precious!

Will try to keep up with my blogging better - this past week was a whirlwind!
